When you are a mom, waking up is a mission. I mean I would love to stay in bed, and sleep an extra hour, but that’s not going to happen like never. Ever. From the moment I open my eyes, I hear “mom, I need…” or “mom I don’t want.” I have tried to create healthy habits so that I can preserve my sanity, but sometimes what helps me the most is avoiding the bad habits even if I can’t remember the good one I was trying hard to do. So, here are 3 things you shouldn’t do when you wake up:
1. Stay in Bed – No, get out of bed. I know it’s awful, if you could only have five more minutes. But I’ll tell you what happens if you stay in bed, you will eventually have to get up, you and your kids will be late to school and work, and you will have to rush breakfast and drop off, and you’ll end up having a crappy day.
2. Skip Coffee!!! – Never ever do this. I mean unless you have never drank coffee, but if you are a regular then don’t ever skip your cup of coffee. I personally have two, and they are heaven in a cup, a gift from the gods above wishing me a great day. Prep your coffee machine the night before, so when you wake up you just click on and let it be done.
3. Skip Breakfast… – Yeah, I know I’m preaching to the choir, cry me a river, whatever. Please just eat something. I have skipped breakfast so many times, and I end up eating more junk food for the rest of the day. Eat anything, toast, egg, an energy bar, but put something in your stomach because if you don’t the hunger will not let you do anything, and it’ll annoy you all day long.
Remember don’t do these things. Do the opposite. Try it, your morning will go better.
